Air India's joint venture proposal with SATS to be worked out by PanelIn order to improve ground handling and cargo operations at various airports, the National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL) has proposed to set up joint venture companies with Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd (SATS).

Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal stated that the matter has been referred to the Committee of Secretaries to work out details. The proposal, mooted several months ago, suggested that Air India and Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) would have a joint arrangement to provide ground and cargo handling facilities at Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and some other airports across the country. Air India and SATS had in 2007, floated a joint venture to handle the ground handling and cargo facilities at the new Bangalore airport.

The Joint venture is aimed at providing professional expertise to build, operate and maintain cargo facility to achieve outstanding domestic and international cargo operations.
