Bus rams into stationary Go Air plane
In a bizarre incident that exposed safely flaws at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, a passenger ferry coach belonging to Jet Airways rammed into a standing Go Air plane on Thursday morning. The bus was parked at the washing area of the airport. It rolled forward to hit the Go Air Airbus A-320, which was parked in a remote bay. The collision damaged the front nose portion of the aircraft.
Fortunately, the aircraft was empty when the incident took place at around 5 am. Officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have already investigated the aircraft. Both Jet Airways and Go Air are conducting separate internal inquiries into the incident.
According to airport officials, Jet employee was following a routine of starting and warming up engines of the coaches. An employee started the bus and left it for warming up but forgot to apply brakes when he switched it off.
The Go Air aircraft was scheduled to fly to New Delhi at 6 am. The flight has been grounded till further inquiry. All of the 11 passengers booked on the flight, G8 152 were provided with alternative bookings and there were no disruptions in services, claimed officials.
