Bulls seem tired; BSE Sensex loses 178 ptsAfter hovering between positive and negative territory, the market finally ended the day with losses, as investors were seen booking profits ahead of political uncertainties.  

The BSE Sensex closed lower by 178.33 points at 11,952.75 while NSE Nifty ended down by 36.85 points at 3,625.05. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 12,272.10 and intraday low of 11,899.41

In addition, BSE Mid Caps and Small Caps also settled the day with losses of 43.03 and 9.57 points at 3,675.84 and 4,153.01 respectively.  

The market today opens on a quiet note tracking mixed cues from the global markets. Further, an hour into opening, the market became choppy and volatile due to lack of optimistic news, which restricted benchmark indices to gather momentum.

But, the market rebounded smartly during afternoon trade on some buying in key stocks.

However, it was unable to hold the same momentum during final trading hours and slipped fast again on profit taking.

On the sectoral front, today investors off-loaded position across the sectors. Most of selling was witnessed in Reality (-3.74%), Bank (-2.94%), Metal (-2.79%), FMCG (-1.97%), IT (-1.51%), Capital Goods (-0.93%) and Teck (-0.89%) stocks. However some buying was observed in Power, Oil and Gas, PSU and Consumer Durables stocks.
 
Losers from the BSE Sensex pack were JP Associates (6.41%), HDFC Bank (6.31%), HDFC (5.94%), DLF Ltd (5.51%), Tata Steel (5.42%), ICICI Bank (5.03%), Sterlite Industries (5.02%), Tata Motors (3.10%), ITC Ltd (2.66%) and Wipro Ltd (2.50%).  
 
Gainers from the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd (1.91%), Hindalco (1.53%), Tata Power (1.24%), Reliance Infra (1.07%), Grasim Industries (0.59%), Bharti Airtel (0.52%) and Ranbaxy Lab (0.51%).
