The benchmark indices ended on a strong note as sharp up move in US markets and in Asian markets lifted the market sentiment. The Sensex surged 453 points or 3.38% to settle at 13,853 and the Nifty shut at 4111 up 3.46% or 137 points. In the broader markets, the CNX midcap index rose 3.6 % and the BSE smallcap gained 4.4 %. All sectoral indices ended in the green. Heavy buying was witnessed in metal, realty, infrastructure, banking and oil & gas stocks. The Nifty July futures also ended into premium with 23 points.

Movers & Shakers

The BSE realty index soared 9.4 % on gains in Ackruti City, DLF, HDIL, Indiabulls Real, Unitech, Mahindra Life and Orbit Corporation was up 5-11%.

The metal index on the BSE rose 5.5 %. JSW Steel, SAIL, Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Sesa Goa and Hindalco gained 5-9%.

In the capital goods space, Punj Lloyd, Suzlon Energy, BHEL, L&T and ABB went up 3-11%.

In the Oil & gas space Reliance Ind and Essar Oil were up 3.5-4% each.

Power stocks like Reliance Infra, Torrent Power, Reliance Power, Lanco Infratech and GVK Power were up 6-9%.

In the banking pack, ICICI Bank, Union Bank, Kotak Mahindra, PNB, SBI surged 2-7%.

In the Sensex pack DLF was the top gainer up 11.4 % to Rs 300. Reliance Infra, JP Associates and ICICI Bank were the other gainers up more than 7.6 % each.
