The subsidiary of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) – Chennai Telephones, in collaboration with a new Indian operator of IPTV services – Smart Digivsion Pvt. Ltd., has launched an IPTV service called “Myway BSNL” in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu.

According to BSNL and Smart Digivsion, Myway BSNL IPTV service provides over 150 linear channels, along with video-on-demand and music-on-demand libraries. The service features a parental lock to block certain content; the feature will allow parents to activate child lock facility to block specific contents and channels through a PIN based system.

"Customers can now watch over 150 channels using the telephone and broadband connection along with a set top box to be provided by Myway. They will also have access to other features like video and music on demand," states the BSNL - Smart Digivsion partnership deal.  

BSNL has reported that it will introduce features such as the ability to pause live TV, to the Myway BSNL IPTV service in the near future. According to BSNL, the Myway BSNL IPTV service is available for upfront payment of Rs 2,500 or Rs 50 (US$ 0.99) per month rental along with a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,000.
