Briton seriously injured in a shark attack in Cape Town

Michael_Cohen42-year-old Michael Cohen from the UK has been seriously injured and is now fighting for his life after he faced a shark attack while swimming at Fish Hoek beach in Cape Town in South Africa.

Mr. Cohen was rescued by on looker after he went to the water ignoring shark warnings, according to the reports. National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesman Craig Lambinon, speaking to the South African Press Association (Sapa), said that he was rescued by a bystander who could be identified as he left the scene

“On arrival, a 42-year-old man was found on the shore suffering complete amputation of his right leg, above the knee, and partial amputation of his left leg, below the knee,” Lambinon said.

He added that the Brtison is believed to be living in the Cape Town suburb of Plumstead.

He was first stabilised at the scene and then airlifted to Constantiaberg Medi-Clinic in a critical condition.

According to city of Cape Town, he entered the beach while it was closed and there was a shark flag, indicating the presence of a great white, which later attacked him. Spotters had seen the shark 90 minutes before the attack, and closed the beach. Mr Cohen is believed to be the only person on the beach at that time.
