London - British police have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of terrorism and carried out a controlled explosion of materials found at his home, police said Friday.

The suspect was arrested in Westbury-on-Trym, near Bristol, in south-west Britain.

"We responded to intelligence given to us in the last 24 hours," police said. No further details were available. (dpa)
