Britain's BT sheds 10,000 jobs as recession bites
London - British Telecom (BT) announced Thursday that it would cut a total of 10,000 jobs in the current financial year, as part of an ongoing efficiency programme.
The company said it had already cut 4,000 jobs, with plans to cut a further 6,000 between now and March 2009.
BT said it was reducing its dependence on consultants and contractors. BT has a global workforce of 160,000. (dpa)
