Brave Florida Mother shares Empowering Photo of her Breastfeeding in Public

A Florida mother delivered a counterblast to a woman who gawked at her for breastfeeding in public. The 24-year-old mom, Ashley Kaidel, described her as badass breastfeeding (uncovered) mamma.

Kaidel grabbed attention of people from around the world after posting a picture of her breastfeeding her baby in a restaurant while staring into the eyes of a woman in the restaurant who shook her head and shamed Kaidel for breastfeeding in a public place.

The mother shared the photo with a caption where she wrote about the woman. Kaidel said the woman was looking at her with disgust. She gave her a dirty look and shook her head when she was breastfeeding her son. According to Kaidel, the woman’s expressions were enough to explain that she was trying to shame her. The woman was indirectly telling that breastfeeding in public is wrong, Kaidel wrote.

“I don’t post this for attention. I don’t post this because I think everyone should nurse uncovered. I post this to give mammas encouragement. And to encourage others to make breastfeeding mothers feel accepted and supported; not alienated, ridiculed and judged,” Kaidel wrote.

Many women around the globe who have seen Kaidel’s shared picture are feeling confident to breastfeed their babies in public without caring about what people will think about them. On social networking site Facebook, Kaidel wrote that mothers should not feel ashamed for breastfeeding their children in public.

Until now, the photo has been shared by more than 120,000 users and received over 400,000 likes.
