Bomb kills two soldiers, wounds one in northern Iraq

Baghdad  -  At least two Iraqi soldiers were killed Friday and another wounded when a bomb went off near the northern Iraqi town of Tuz Khormato, police said.

Abbas Amin, an Iraqi police officer, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that an explosive device targeted a patrol in the early morning of Friday near the village of Maftol close to Tuz Khormato, which is some 185 kilometres north of Baghdad.

The wounded soldier was moved to Tuz Khormato's hospital for treatment.

The bomb attack was second such attack in the Tuz Khormato area in as many days. On Thursday, at least 52 people were killed and 35 wounded when a suicide bomber detonated himself during a funeral procession at the village of Abu Mohamed, near Tuz Khormato. (dpa)
