BMC issues tenders to demolish Campa Cola Compound buildings’ illegal floorsOccupants of unauthorized floors in seven buildings in Worli's Campa Cola Compound are worried about their future as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to demolish the unauthorized floors within three months.

The BMC has already issued tenders to demolish the unauthorized portions of the buildings. The civic body is expected to start the demolition work in October this year.

In May, the civic body had issued a 48-hour eviction notice to the residents, with a warning that the demolition work would start immediately after the given time. But the residents approached the Supreme Court of India, which granted them a grace period of five months, which ends in October.

The residents said that their fight for retaining their houses suffered a roadblock due to lack of funds as well as dispute among residents about the outcome of the review plea.

When contacted, one of the residents said, "A section of residents who are going to lose their residences are finding the legal battle financially unaffordable due to apprehensions about whether the last effort succeeds or not."

The resident added that the review petition was yet to be heard but difference of opinions had caused disputes among residents.

However, one of the other residents said they were positive about hearing of the review petition by the Supreme Court, adding that residents were also positive about a curative petition pending before the Bombay High Court.
