Blink Charging and ElectroChile sign deal to bring EV charging stations to Chile
In a move aimed at the potential deployment of charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in Chile, Blink Charging and ElectroChile have signed a deal under which they will jointly promote and deploy fast chargers across the country.
The deal between Blink Charging and ElectroChile underscores a multi-year contract for EV charging station deployment in Chile. However, the companies have not officially disclosed all the details related to the agreement and the charger deployment targets.
Under the deal, the EV charging stations to be deployed by Blink Charging and ElectroChile in Chile will comprise the fastest Level 2 EV charging equipment. More specifically, the charging equipment will be Blink’s IQ 200 charging station which is capable of delivering an output of up to 19.2 kWh. The charging station can be installed on circuits ranging from 12-100 amps.
The announcement of the charging station deal between Blink Charging and ElectroChile comes within months of the delivery of the first fleet of 100 electric buses in Chile.
With the government evidently making efforts to encourage EV adoption in Chile, Energy Minister Sussana Jimenez has already said that the government will like to achieve the electrification of 40% of its private fleet and 100% of its public vehicle fleet by 2050.
