BlackBerry to support Android 4.2 Jelly Bean appsSmartphone maker, BlackBerry has indicated that its devices are likely to support Android 4.2 Jelly Bean apps over the coming months to expand the number of apps available on its devices.

Product manager Matt Whiteman wrote on BlackBerry's official developer blog that Android Jelly Bean apps are supported in the Android development tools for BlackBerry 10.2, which is the next update for the Blackberry 10 operating system.

"This release includes the first beta release of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. All the great features that were previously available in [Android] Gingerbread will continue to be supported, as well as some specific Jelly Bean OS features such as Fragments, embedded fragments, animation framework and hardware acceleration. Keep in mind this is the first beta release, and there will bound to be some bugs as we work our way towards the gold release later in the summer," the blog post read.

Meanwhile, Societe Generale analyst Andy Perkins has raised the rating for BlackBerry from 'sell' to 'buy' after observing that the new models form the smartphone masker is selling well in the market.

The company selling Z10, that comes with a touch-screen and the Q10, which has traditional BlackBerry physical keyboard. Analysts BlackBerry to sell more than 4 million units of Z10 during the first quarter of the financial year compared to 1 million sold in the previous quarter. On the other hand, the company could sell about 1 million units of Q10during the period.
