Senior BJP leader and former Home Minister, Gulab Chand Kataria proposed Raje's name which was unanimously approved.
BJP's Vice Ppresident of the State, Arun Chaturvedi said, "Raje was elected unanimously by all the MLAs. She performed exceptionally well during her reign as CM and the party still stands by her." In the recent Assembly polls, Vasundhara Raje, who headed the BJP government, was defeated by the Congress.
Chaturvedi said, "Anti-incumbency did not play as big a role in bringing down the BJP Government as party infighting did. In fact, even the Congress did not manage a majority and was only the single largest party."
