BJP calls for stern action against Pakistan
Jammu, Dec 17 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh has said that the Indian Government should take stern action against Pakistan for allegedly defying the opinion of the international community.
Addressing a news conference in Jammu on Tuesday, Singh said it is time for New Delhi to take some concrete measures.
"The Security Council has imposed a ban on the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), but Pakistan is not ready to take action against it. It also released arrested activists of that group. Pakistan has been disregarding the orders of the world and international community, he said.
He also said that Pakistan with its nuclear weapons was turning out to be a potential threat and the world community should pay heed to it.
"Pakistan has nuclear weapons and nuclear arsenals. Pakistan has admitted the fact that non-state actors of Pakistan might have a role in Mumbai terror attacks. This means that Pakistan does not have any control over its non-state actors. The international community should think over it whether the possession of nuclear arsenals by Pakistan would be in global interest," he added.
Pakistan has cracked down on suspected militants since the Mumbai attacks, detaining scores of people, many of them members of the JuD.
Last week, a committee of the U. N. Security Council added the charity to a list of people and groups facing sanctions for ties to Al Qaeda or the Taliban.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had said the clampdown on the charity had been carried out because of the U. N. decision and authorities would take control of the group''s projects to ensure they were continued for the benefit of the people.
Pakistan has frozen accounts of JuD and also detained some of its leaders. (ANI)
