'Bigg Boss 8' winner Gautam Gulati to try luck in films next

Gautam GulatiMumbai: TV actor Gautam Gulati wants to cut his teeth in Bollywood post emerging victorious on the celebrity reality show 'Bigg Boss 8 - Halla Bol'.

Gautam, 27, beat other finalists Karishma Tanna, Pritam Singh, Ali Quli Mirza and Dimpy to become the winner of the four month-long season of the show.

The young star, who played the second fiddle on popular daily soap 'Diya Aur Baati Hum', has reportedly been offered a lot of film projects.

Asked about trying his luck in the silver screen, the actor said, "I will take a break first and spend time with my family. After that, I will focus on films."

Gautam began as an underdog on the show but soon became viewers' favourite after he stood firm against other contestants when they cornered him.

"I cannot believe that I have won. It has been an exceptional journey with plenty of ups and downs but it is an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

"I am greatly indebted to my family, friends and fans who have supported me throughout my journey on Bigg Boss, and cannot thank them enough. Emerging victorious is like a dream come true and I am now ready for the next phase of my career," he said.

Besides the coveted trophy, the young star also took home Rs 50 lakh cash prize. While Karishma became the first runner-up, Pritam stood third, after he accepted the 'Bigg Boss' offer of Rs 25 lakh and quit the show.--PTI
