Bhupati and Amritraj to clash in pre-quarterfinal
Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi and Prakash Amritraj will clash with each other in the pre-quarterfinal match as both advanced to pre-quarterfinals after winning their matches in the second round of the men's double event of the Wimbledon championship in London on Friday.
India's Amritraj and his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi have defeated pair of Australian Rameez Junaid and Philipp Marx of Germany in a neck-to-neck second round match by 7-5, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-7(3), 8-6 as the four sets of the five sets match went to tie-breaker.
Earlier Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles, the fourth seeded duo, also faced tough challenge from the duo of Philipp Petzschner and Alexander Peya but managed to clinch the game by 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 in their second round match.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza duo crashed out after losing their match against the unseeded pair of Russian Igor Andreev and Maria Kirilenko by 6-7, (4), 3-6 in the mixed double event of the Wimbledon championship.
