BHEL receives an order worth Rs 105 crore; stock soars 3%

BhelThe public sector Power Solutions major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received an order worth Rs 105 crore from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for setting up a captive power plant at its Barauni Refinery Complex.

The contract is for the supply of a 20-megawatt (MW) Steam Turbine Generator (STG) for the set-based captive power plant with a gas/oil fired boiler of 150 tons per hour capacity.

According to a company official, the project will be set up as an extension of the existing captive power plant, to meet the requirement of uninterrupted power supply to the refinery. The company's scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the captive power plant.

Further, BHEL stated in a communiqué that the company will supply equipment from its plants situated at Bhopal, Hyderabad, Ranipet, Trichy, and Bangalore. However, the erection and commissioning of the plant would be carried out by its power sector, Eastern Region, Kolkata.

After touching an intraday high of Rs 2204, the shares of the company finally settled the day with gain of 3% at Rs 2193.
