Benazir wants military and economic sanctions against Pak: Elahi

Lahore, Nov 15: Pakistan Punjab province Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that former premier Benazir Bhutto wants military and economic sanctions to be imposed on the country.

Elahi said that Bhutto is putting the country’s survival at ‘stake’, and added that she had opposed the Kala Bagh Dam and wanted to harm the agriculture sector.

He said when Pakistan was facing a natural disaster in October 2005, Bhutto did not bother about the victims of the earthquake.

Elahi was addressing public meetings at the Government High School Hafizabad and Dullah Bhatti Chowk, Pindi Bhattian.

He said that President Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) were making efforts for the country’s development and stability.

Elahi said the PML-Q would defeat the PPP. The country had reached at the verge of economic disaster during the PPP and the PML-N Governments, whereas development achieved under Musharraf’s leadership was ‘unprecedented’, he added.

The Daily Times quoted Elahi as saying that the PML-N supporters should vote for the PML-Q.

Elahi said water theft had been controlled through the new irrigation system, as a result water had been made available to farmers at tail ends. (ANI)
