Begin each day with passion

passionSchool days- As I come from an Army background, I had to change schools quite frequently. It was a blessing in disguise for me. I got the opportunity to see almost the whole of India. I learnt about people and their cultures, their costumes. It was in a way a starting point for me.

Training- I studied fashion at the Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi, which helped me widen my horizons. In the final year at college, I won the best design collection award, which got me into the London College of Fashion, UK. England gave me a great learning opportunity.

The first show- My first show, in which leading models took part, was an enriching experience. It was a Young Presidents’ Organisation show at Jindal House. My friends and family supported me a lot.

Independent spirit- One has to be not only creatively inclined in what one does but should also have the passion to create something new each day. It’s the spirit that frees you and helps you grow each day.

Professional highs- My professional high comes from seeing my designs participate in a dialogue (with end-users), which can lead to a timeless conversation. It was great to see my designs being worn by Katrina Kaif and Dia Mirza.

Highs as a human being- I am happy doing what I am doing now — I always wanted to be a designer and today I am a satisfied one, setting newer goals each day and living my dreams. I set and challenge my own standards.

Success secrets- I have always remained level-headed. I have always retained a positive outlook towards life.

There are times when you may not achieve what you want or you may even fail, but you should not be put off by that. Instead, you should be back on track taking lessons from your failures and marching towards a greater success.

Staying positive- Chase your dreams and turn them into reality. Let not the pitfalls worry you. It is you as a person who can guide you the best. Achievements don’t happen overnight. One has to learn from one’s mistakes. As told to Pranab Ghosh
