Be Aware of West Nile VirusThe Department of Public Health has reminded Massachusetts’ citizens to adopt safety measures from the mosquito bites this summer. This announcement came into consideration with the arrival of West Nile Virus. The virus spreads due to the mosquitoes and due to the virus, human brain swells drastically.

Erie County Department has informed that the mosquitoes they trapped in Millcreek Township on June 28 have been tested positive for the West Nile Virus. The county's West Nile virus coordinator Karen Tobin, told that it is not the season for the virus but they found that rainy season earlier followed by the summers would have led to the condition of many mosquitoes.

But early onset of this virus has become a concern for the concerned authorities and according to Tobin the last case of this virus was recorded in July 17, 2007.

Tobin did not have the permission to announce where infected mosquitoes were trapped. County department is taking full precautions and would spray insecticide on Monday and Tuesday in early morning in different places such as from West 25th Street north to West 13th Street, around the Millcreek Golf and Learning Center and, has also asked people to keep their surroundings clean.
