ASUS unveils P526 PDA for Rs 21k and M530w smartphone for Rs 17k in India
Taiwanese electronics giant ASUS unveiled two new PDA phones for Indian market at an event organized at Taj Palace in Mumbai. The company is offering Windows Mobile 6 based P526 and M530w for Indian customers for a price of Rs 20,990 and Rs 16,990 respectively.
Asia Pacific GM for Asus Mr. Benson Lin and ASUS India MD Mr. Andrew Tsui were present on the launch ceremony. The company is planning aggressive marketing campaign in India. Asus is also in talks with various mobile service providers to bundle the Asus PDAs with their calling plans. Both the phones launched in India have already received a good response from consumers in United States.
Edward Wang, Business Head, Mobile Communication Business, ASUS India said that the new stylish phones will enable people to remain connected through IM, online communities and email.
Asus M530w is supports GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 Networks. The PDA weighs 135 gm and has dimensions (W x D x H) 117 x 65 x 13.8 mm. It comes with a built-in 2 Mega Pixel camera. With a price tag of Rs 16,990, it is a good buy.
The GPS-Enabled Smartphone P526 also has a 2 Mega Pixel built-in camera. The phone offers MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint viewer. For business professionals, Asus M530w offers Calendar, File Manager, Voice Recognition and an easy to user Organizer.
ASUS P526 is being sold online for US $ 540 – 625. While the price for M530w ranges between US $ 439 – 469. The prices for Indian market are slightly lower than United States.
