Assam death toll touches 77
Death toll in Assam serial blast has touched 77, with 11 more people succumbing to their injuries.
Out of them, 8 people died in Guwahati taking the death toll in the city to 41. Three others died at Barpeta. The number of deaths in Barpeta and Kokrajhar was reported to be 15 and 21 respectively.
Assam witnessed the deadliest terror attack in recent years in which serial blasts devastated Guwahati, Kokrajahar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta, killing 66 people and injuring about 470 others.
ULFA has denied any involvement in the blasts.
Police suspects the role of HuJi militants along with other jehadi organizations behind the terror strike.
Police has confirmed the use of RDX in two of the blasts in Guwahati.
The State Govt. has constituted a special task force to reveal the conspiracy behind the blasts.
A team of NSG personnel had already been rushed to Assam and another team of security agencies was on its way, said Central Home Secy. Madhukar Gupta at New Delhi, after his meeting with home minister Shivraj Patil and IB chief P C Haldar over the situation in Assam.
