Asif Ali Zardari says he can’t disclose the “whole truth” to the nation

PPP Co-chairman and presidential hopeful Asif Ali ZardariIslamabad, Aug 26: PPP Co-chairman and presidential hopeful Asif Ali Zardari has said that he wanted PML-N leader and former premier Nawaz Sharif to come back to the coalition fold, and that he “can’t disclose the whole truth to the nation”.

About the written agreements between the two parties, he said that both the parties had jointly signed a political understanding, and that the PPP was not scared of those agreements.

“We seek forgiveness from Nawaz if his feelings are hurt. I want to take Nawaz on board, as there are immense difficulties ahead. Perhaps I cannot tell the whole truth to the nation,” the Daily Times quoted Zardari as saying in a TV interview.

Zardari expressed his dismay over the PML-N parting ways with the ruling coalition and added that the PPP wanted Nawaz’s support in its bid to strengthen democratic institutions.

The journey towards democracy, jointly started by the PPP and PML-N, had met some success in the form of election of the prime minister and former president Pervez Musharraf’s ouster, reported the Daily Times.

Zardari said that despite difficulties, both the coalition partners had jointly defeated the former dictator without waging any war. The PPP would continue to convince the PML-N chief to return to the coalition, as the survival of the PPP was linked to the survival of the PML-N, the paper quoted him as saying. (ANI)
