Arun Sawhney takes over as Ranbaxy Managing Director
Ranbaxy Laboratories announced today that Arun Sawhney has taken the post of Managing Director of the company. He has in the process replaced Atul Sobti who had resigned on August 12.
Arun Sawhney was earlier the President of the global pharmaceutical business of the company. He has now taken over as the Managing Director and will hold the post for duration of three years, according to Ranbaxy.
Sawhney has worked in the industry for thirty years with experience in the senior management positions in quite a few pharmaceutical firms, the likes of Max-Gb, Hindustan Ciba-Geigy, Bayer India Ltd and Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.
Moreover, he is also one of the few founder members of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil).
Sawhney's predecessor, Atul Sobti had joined the Ranbaxy Company in 2005, and had surprisingly quit from his post of Managing Director and CEO, the reasons according to him being certain differences and issues with the management of the company's Japanese parent Daiichi Sankyo. Following his resignation, Arun Sawhney took over the post of the Managing Director.
