Apple rolls out iOS 6’s first bug fix update - iOS 6.0.1
In an evident attempt to address a number of issues with its mid-September-released new iOS version - iOS 6 - and to patch a few minor bugs for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Apple rolled out its first bug fix update, iOS version 6.0.1, on Thursday.
According to Apple, which also released the iOS 6.1 beta to developers on Thursday itself, the iOS 6.0.1 version will fix several bugs, including the one which, as per Apple, prevents the installation of over-the-air software updates for iPhone 5 users. The fix which Apple has released for this bug includes the setting up of a special "iOS updater" app to help iPhone 5 users install the updates wirelessly over the air.
Another important issue which the iOS 6.0.1 version addresses is the one in which the iPhone's camera flash fails to go off; and also a glitch that prevented the connection of the iPhone to a cellular network in some cases.
Some of the other bugs which Apple has fixed with the release of iOS 6.0.1 version include the bug which causes horizontal lines to be displayed across the keyboard, and the bug which affects Exchange meetings.
In addition, the update also enhances the consistency of iPhone 5 and iPod touch when the devices are connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks; and patches a Passcode Lock flaw that sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass information from the lock screen.
