Technology giant, Apple has released the new the iBooks 2 for iPad app and the iBooks textbooks, taking the digital book revolution to the next level.

Digital textbooks have been growing at a great speed and this has created an opportunity for companies like Apple and Amazon. Apple has been offering a pool of knowledge in algebra, biology and chemistry subjects. The company is offering various publications from major publishers like McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and DK.

Apple is aiming to lead the revolution and has released the new multitouch digital textbooks allowing new consumer experience. The new features allow users to access instant search and easy navigation that were not possible on traditional textbooks.

The digital books also offer interactive animations, pictures and videos that enhance the customer experience. Another feature of digital textbooks is that it allows authors to upgrade them so as to keep them updates with the current times.

Apple and other companies are aiming to tap into the new emerging segment. Currently there are not many titles available for iBooks 2 as the company has kept the app closed from third parties.

Meanwhile, Apple has also launched iBooks Author, which is a free to use authoring tool for the Mac that encourages all to create their own produce their own iBook textbooks, cookbooks, how-tos and other works.
