Apple claims selling 3 million new iPad tabletsTechnology giant, Apple has claimed that it has sold more than 3 million units of the latest version of its iPad tablet computer since its launch on 16 March.

The new iPad, which was launched in the US market and nine other countries on Friday, has sold more than 3 million units in the few days in different counties due to high demand. Apple CEO Tim Cook had said in a conference call yesterday that the new version of the tablet sold in “record” numbers.

Philip Schiller, the company’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing had claimed on Apple’s Website that the weekend had produced the best iPad launch ever. Ahead of the launch, Apple had claimed that it finished the pre-order stock of the third generation iPad tablet computer. Apple spokesperson Trudy Miller has said that re-order volume for the new iPad has been "off the charts" and the stock for pre-orders has already been exhausted.

The newest iPad tablet comes in several versions starting at $499, which is the same price for the iPad 2 at the time of its launch in the previous year. Apple generally releases a new tablet at the same price as the pervious version and reduces the price of the earlier version.
