Apple adds ‘Creating jobs through innovation’ page on its websiteTechnology giant, Apple has added a new page on its official website to highlight the number of jobs it has created and it supports in the US.

The page is titled "Creating jobs through innovation" features facts and figures about the company employees in the country. The page details everyone from "the engineer who helped invent the iPad to the delivery person who brings it to your door."

Apple claims that it has created or supports more than 514,000 jobs in the country. About of the total, about 304,000 are current jobs while the remaining 210,000 exist as a result of the iOS app ecosystem.

According to a study by Analysis Group, out of the 304,000 jobs supported by the company, 47,000 are within the company and 257,000 are with related firms. The new page highlights the company's contribution to job creation in the home market, even as it continues to source manufacturing from abroad.

According to industry watchers, the decision to add the new page by the company is aimed at distancing the brand from controversy over ill-treatment of workforce by Chinese companies that are producing devices for Apple.

Cupertino company has faced criticism over the use of companies in its supply chain that are accused of abusing its labor in Asia. Even as Apple has repeatedly said that it takes steps to ensure that everyone in its global supply chain is fairly treated, the controversy has affected the brand name among several groups.
