Reliance Life Insurance Company (RLIC), a part of Reliance Capital, has announced that it has appointed Mr. Anup Rau as its new Chief Executive Officer, depending upon an approval from the market regulator.

The Board of Directors of the company decided to appoint Mr. Rau as the new head of the insurance sector giant but the formal announcement is expected after an approval is given by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority. Mr. Rau is expected to replace Malay Ghosh, who will work as the President and Executive Director of Reliance Life Insurance.

Sam Ghosh, CEO, Reliance Capital said, "Mr. Malay Ghosh has played a pivotal role in building the company in challenging times. He also played a key role in forging our relationship with Nippon Life Insurance, the largest private life insurer in Japan, as a strategic partner in the company. He will continue to guide the company as a member on the Board."

Rau will also be on the Board of Reliance Life Insurance and will joint as the new CEO immediately. Rau has been working as the head of sales and distribution at HDFC Life Insurance and has an industry experience of more than 17 years. Before joining HDFC, he was working as head for Bancassurance, Alliances and International Business at ICICI Prudential Life.
