Anti-Virus protection encouraged by Apple

Anti-Virus protection encouraged by ApplePossibly all of us might have come across ads on TV and read countless comments online that Macintosh has no need for anti-Virus software. However, it is quite surprising and ironic to know that Apple has chosen to reverse the marketing mantra and suggest that anti-virus protection is vital.

It is quite well known that Apple uses its marketing department to push forward the notion that Mac's are immune to pretty much every system flaw found on the planet. However, the company in the latest Tech Note said, "Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult."

Apple is not only recommending the use of anti-Virus, but is also encouraging the use of layered security for the Mac.

The Tech Note also mentions problem with the layers, "The anti-Virus applications listed will never work well together on a Windows-based PC, let alone on a Mac."
