Anonymous lists Miami Police Department among targets
Online activist group named, Anonymous has listed the Miami Police Department as one of the targets for hacking attacks among others.
Sergeant Freddie Cruz said Miami Police has indicated that he is now aware of the reason behind naming the department among the targets for the online group, which has made news in recent months for online attacks on the websites of various companies.
Sergeant Cruz said that the department has not identified any breach of their systems yet but will launch an investigation with the FBI if an attack comes to light. Anonymous os a loosely connected group and does not have a spokesperson, thus it is not possible to confirm the reports with the group members.
Meanwhile, Anonymous has launched an attack and shut down the website of a global security firm called, Stratfor. The group claimed that it has stolen its client list and 50,000 credit card numbers and used the information to make withdrawals. It also said that it donated $1 million to charities for noble work.
Stratfor, based in Austin, Texas, said its affected clients and its supporters “are at risk of having sensitive information repeatedly published on other websites.”
