Anand Jon’s well-wishers seek 100,000 petitioners for plea to Obama
Los Angeles, Feb 23 : Indian fashion designer Anand Jon's well- wishers are trying to have a petition to bring his case to U. S. president Barack Obama's attention signed by 100,000 people.
Through this petition, they want to highlight that the haste with which the jury presided over the case has led to a great injustice.
The appeal says, "We are deeply concerned about the Anand Jon verdict; We feel that the jury acted in haste and a great injustice was committed.
"It is hard to understand in this great country how so many of these witnesses for the prosecution could blatantly lie on the stand, seemingly without consequences. These acts compound our concern regarding the fairness of the outcome.
"Furthermore, he passed the polygraph and we believe that the prosecution''s main complaining witness should proceed with a polygraph also. Of the 16 counts, there is only one count of alleged rape and that one is based on a rape kit that is "Negative".
"Due to the overwhelming evidence in support of the defendant, we are troubled about the process and worried if there was bias and/or manipulation involved. There is obvious prosecutorial misconduct and we humbly request that prosecution should be removed from this case and an independent investigation be launched apart from the District Attorney," the petition added.
