AMD inaugurates 2nd R&D facility in Hyderabad
The US-based Chip maker, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), has opened its second research and design (R&D) facility in Hyderabad.
Founded in 1969 and based in Sunnyvale, California, AMD designs and produces innovative microprocessor and graphics and media solutions for the computer, communications, and consumer electronics industries.
The new 30,000 square-foot center will accommodate a growing team of R&D employees focusing on next-generation AMD graphics and computing solutions.
Dirk Meyer, President and Chief Operating Officer, AMD said, “India's talented pool of engineering resources makes it one of the most important technology centers in the world. AMD's inauguration of our fourth R&D facility in India and second in Hyderabad is recognition of the caliber of talent and design expertise that resides within the country.”
Dasaradha Gude, Vice-President and Managing Director of the AMD Hyderabad Research & Development Center said, “The original Hyderabad center has been working on leading edge technology over the last four years.”
"We are very proud of our achievements in very high-end, intensive design work. The new office showcases how we have grown and will continue to contribute to AMD in the future, he added."
The center includes AMD's Center of Excellence for audio technology and has designed multimedia products for leading companies in consumer electronics, including mobile phones, game consoles, LCD panels and TV tuner cards.
