Amazon likely to unveil next-generation Kindle Fire at Sept. 6 press event

Amazon likely to unveil next-generation Kindle Fire at Sept. 6 press eventWith online retail giant Amazon sending out invites for its press event to be held in Santa Monica, California, on September 6, it is being widely speculated that the company will unveil its next-generation Kindle Fire tablets at the event.

There, however, is no official confirmation from Amazon about what the next month-scheduled press conference entails; with the invitations the company is sending out to the media merely reading thus: "Please join us for an Amazon press conference."

Nonetheless, according to several reports, Amazon is apparently planning to introduce an updated Kindle Fire tablet, and probably even more Kindle Fire versions, as well as an e-ink Kindle which will boast the advantage of built-in lighting.

The recent reports about Amazon's plans to introduce new Kindle devices at the forthcoming event apparently substantiate the earlier rumors - which kept making rounds all through the summer - about the online retailer preparing an upgrade of its November-launched Kindle Fire which costs $199 at the Amazon store.

An All Things D report last month, citing unidentified `inside' sources familiar with Amazon's plans, had revealed that the new Kindle Fire tablet which Amazon is supposedly prepping will feature a built-in camera, quite like its rival, the Google Nexus 7 tablet.

The report also mentioned that the upgraded Kindle Fire will sport a notably-enhanced screen with 1280-by-800-pixel resolution, which will be bigger than the current 1024-by-600 display of the tablet, which will also probably have a completely new width-to-height ratio.
