Airplane slides off runway at South African airport, no injuries

Durban, South Africa  - A British Airways Boeing 737 carrying 87 passengers and six crew went off the runway during landing in poor weather at South Africa's Durban International Airport on Wednesday, airport officials said.

The airport was closed after the incident believed to have been caused by bad weather. No major injuries were immediately reported, the Sapa news agency reported.

"On landing, the aircraft went off the runway. We managed to move passengers off the aircraft and to a safe location and trauma counsellors and paramedics are presently attending to them," airport spokesman Colin Naidoo said. (dpa)
