Mr. Singh said that the proposed airline had already submitted the application, and the ministry was scrutinizing it.

Speaking on the topic, he said, "When all the data is there, I can tell you, the Ministry is very active, proactive. If we get all the required data it should be cleared very soon."

He suggested that it would save time if the promoters also named the chief executive of the proposed airline, adding that it would help in the later security clearance stages.

AirAsia India is a joint venture between Malaysian airline Air Asia, Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia-led Telstra Tradeplace. While Malaysian airline will hold 49 per cent stake in the upcoming budget airline, Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia will own 30 per cent and 21 per cent stake, respectively.

The Minister was speaking to reporters after announcing the schedule for the five-day exhibition & air-show 'India Aviation 2014,' which will take place in March 2014 in Hyderabad.

Mr. Singh also claimed that after the recently hit strategic deal between Jet Airways and Etihad, more foreign airlines had shown interest in acquiring stakes in Indian Airlines.
