Air India staff might go on strike from April 2

Air India staff might go on strike from April 2Unions representing the staff of Air India (AI) including pilots and engineers have warned that they might go on strike from April 2 if the management does not clear their pending salaries and allowances dues till March 31.

A total of seven unions, which represent a majority of the employees, are also jointly seeking a written assurance from the AI management that the remaining dues will be cleared by the airline.

Officials of the main unions like Indian Pilots Guild, Indian Commercial Pilots Association and the Air India Cabin Crew Association did not comment on the warning of the strike.

The new warning of the strike comes after the demand for a written commitment from the management stating that it will clear all the dues until April 1. According to sources, seven out of 13 unions held meetings with the management but the management has not been able to give a written communication assuring that the dues will be paid in time.

Airline officials have said that the management has requested the unions not to go on strike in the holiday season in order to avoid inconvenience to the passengers.
