Air India pilots endanger lives of passengers

air-indiaThe management of Air India has ordered an enquiry into the alleged scuffle between the pilot and the cabin crew of the Air India flight coming from Sharjah to Lucknow. The incident could have proved dearly to 106 passengers on board the Indian Airlines Airbus A-320.

An airline official said: "A pilot and a cabin crew of Air India's IC-884 Sharjah-Lucknow-Delhi flight were injured after they had a scuffle over some issues mid-air." A separate enquiry has also been ordered by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, expressing concern over gross violation of safety norms.

A senior DGCA official said: "The airline didn't even inform us of this incident in time. We're going to summon the crew members on Monday. This incident is shocking and we may need to take exemplary action,"

The crew accused the pilot and co-pilot for harassing a 24-year-old female colleague who had filed a complaint against the pilot before the Delhi police. The police has started enquiry into the matter. Joint CP (operations) Satyendra Garg said: "There are several eyewitnesses and we are recording their statements,"

The pilot, on the other hand, accused his colleagues of misconduct. Abuses and blows were reportedly exchanged amongst staff members, and a female cabin crew member and the co-pilot sustained injuries.
