AIIMS Convocation Postponed To October 25
New Delhi: According to Health Ministry sources, the AIIMS convocation in which the medical students were to be granted degree certificates has been delayed to October.
Now, the students were to be honored their degree certificates by Union Health Minister, Anbumani Ramadoss, on September 25.
The sourced stated, “The Minister has prior appointment on September 25 and the date of convocation was fixed without his consent.”
Last month, the AIIMS students had gone on strike asking issue of degree certificates, as it was compulsory for getting a job out of the country.
Mr. Ramadoss, involved in a long-time battle with AIIMS Director, P Venugopal, had declined to sign the degree certificates stating that they bore the signature of a registrar whose selection was "unlawful".
The medical students approached the Delhi High Court that directed Mr. Ramadass to sign up all the degree certificates.
After that AIIMS Director had declared the date of convocation.
