AIFF slaps Rs 10, 000 fine on Mondal
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the Mohun Bagan defender Dipak Mondal for his misbehavior in the match against JCT in the ongoing I-league at Kolkata. AIFF also sustained his two match suspension.
The AIFF disciplinary committee led by Chairman NA Khan rejected Mondal's plea against his suspension for two matches after he was found guilty of abusing match referee. After this rejection, Mondal will not be able to play in the derby match against East Bengal on October 25.
The meeting of AIFF disciplinary lasted for almost five hours and Mondal was called twice in the meeting room to show videos confirming his misbehavior with referee A Rowan. AIFFA also suspended JCT player Daljeet Singh for one match for misconduct in match against East Bengal.
The sources reported that Mondal was not accepting his faults but he accepted his unsporting actions after seeing the video clippings. The source added that committee was also disappointed with the behavior of Mohun Bagan officials as none of the officials intervened when referee was pushed by Mondal.
