AICC session begins, Indo-US nuke deal and Nandigram likely to be discussed

New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): All India Congress CommitteeThe seventeenth All India Congress Committee (AICC) session that began here today is likely to take up the issues of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal and Nandigram violence.

Top Congress leaders, chiefs of Congress-ruled states and other 2,000 delegates are attending the AICC session here.

The focus is likely to be on the newly inducted Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, Rahul Gandhi. The theme of the meeting will be “continuity with change” with focus on youth.

It would also adopt resolutions on the soaring oil prices and its impact on the economy, farmers' suicide and forthcoming provincial polls.

As it is being held ahead of the Gujarat elections, the meet is expected to see a sharp attack on the saffron forces, especially on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Party sources said the formulation on the key issue of coalition was unlikely to undergo much change from that at the AICC Plenary in Hyderabad in January last year.

After the defeat in Uttar Pradesh elections, the talk 'of going it alone' is hardly heard at the AICC headquarters.

In the political resolution at the Plenary, the party had sought to impress upon the coalition partners the need for collective responsibility.
