Ahmedabad’s BRT: a lesson for global economies  While the bus rapid corridor has been a curse for most of the delhities, on the other end, the Ahmedabad’s BRT has been one of the most talked about topic for most of the people in the global economies.

IP Gautam, municipal commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and chairman, Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL), a special purpose vehicle set up for BRTS, said that the committee has even surveyed a group of people who earlier used to commute by their own cars, but the formation of BRT, they save close to 70% of their times and 50% of their fuel costs.

Moreover, the municipal commissioner also pointed out the fact that the aim behind the project is to reduce the use of private vehicles, reduce congestion and increase use of public transport.

There is no denying to the fact that the BRT corridors will be the way to the future in the time to come, but the degree of carefulness which was shown in the formation of the Ahemdabad’s BRT will be required to be replicated so that the country can achieve similar results at other locations as well.

For now, the BRT at Ahemdabad has caught the eye of several countries who will be implementing it in the years to come.
