Acer launches new Iconia Tab B1-A71 for just Rs 7,999Taiwanese computing giant, Acer has announced the launch of its new affordable Iconia Tab B1-A71 tablet in the Indian market with a price tag of just Rs. 7,999 aiming to expand its presence in the crucial Asian market.

The Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71 tablet comes with a 7-inch (diagonal) WSVGA capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. It runs on Google's Android 4.1.2 or Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU with Cortex A9 cores from MediaTek, supported by a PowerVR SX531 graphics chip from Imagination. It has a 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot. It supports 3G data via SIM card or dongles and Wi-Fi.

The new tablet measures 197.4 and 128.5 millimeters and weighs just 320g. It is made up of plastic sporting a big black bezel on its front for the screen to be displayed, giving it an appearance of a digital photo frame. The company has fixed a micro-SD card at the bottom of the tablet and is covered by an insert and on the other hand, the 3.5 mm headset jack is placed at the top of the tablet along with Volume control and the power/sleep button.

The tablet comes with a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video conferencing. The rear of the tablet is covered by black plastic cover and features Acer branding and small speaker grill and certification labels. The company claims that the 2710mAh battery of the tablet can be fully charged in 3 hours and offer around 4 hours of video playback and 5-6 hours of continuous usage on a single charge.
