46th anniversary of first moon landing
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to reach the moon on July 20, 1969. And this was a big achievement in the history of space. And when Armstrong and Aldrin were working on the moon, astronaut Michael Collins orbited in their command module. He was waiting for the crew members to come back.
So, it was 46 years back, when the milestone was achieved. The crew said many things while approaching the moon, while on surface of the moon, and on their way back to Earth. NASA's Saturn V rocket supported the spacecraft.
Astronaut Neil Armstrong reported to Mission Control that he and Edwin Aldrin Jr. reached the moon.
When Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon for the first time, it was called the most important achievement by humans in the twentieth century. At least 600 million people saw the moon landing photos, and a number of technical difficulties were faced by scientists at that time.
Armstrong told Mission Control, the group of nervous scientists assisting the flight from earth, "OK, i'm going to step off the LEM (Lunar Module) now. That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
The astronauts collected some lunar soil samples, installed the US Flag and took an image of planet Earth.
