2024 Volvo C40 & XC40 Recharge EVs get major upgrades at nominal costs

Volvo has unveiled the pricing for its 2024 lineup in the US, with a highlight on the upgraded electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models, which now boast impressive performance and range improvements without any significant increase in prices. The 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge has been introduced with a brand-new rear-wheel drive (RWD) powertrain. Starting at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $53,600, it boasts an impressive EPA-rated range of 297 miles, thanks to its massive 82-kWh battery. For those who prefer the all-wheel drive (AWD) version, the EV is there for just a $1,750 increase in price, coming in at $55,350. Market analysts are of the view that this cost is quite competitive with the existing 2023 model year AWD variant.

Notably, the range for the new model has been significantly improved to 257 miles, considerably up from the existing model’s 226-mile range. Thus, the Volvo C40 Recharge now offers more compelling value proposition.

Turning to the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge, the RWD variant starts at $52,450, while the AWD version commences at $54,200, representing an increase of just $650 from the existing model year EV. The destination charge for the XC40 is slightly higher at $1,195, as opposed to $1,095 for the C40.

As both the aforementioned models are imported, they will not qualify for the US federal government’s $7,500 tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022. However, there are chances that this incentive can be made available for leasing.

For prospective buyers, the 2024 pricing for the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge come in a range of options. In the XC40 Recharge lineup, one can choose from the Single Motor Extended Range RWD trims, which include the Core ($52,450), the Plus ($55,400), and the Ultimate ($58,800). For those seeking more power and AWD, the Twin Motor AWD versions are available, with the Core, Plus, and Ultimate trims priced at $54,200, $57,150, and $60,550, respectively.

On the other hand, the C40 Recharge features similar pricing options with its Single Motor Extended Range RWD trims, commencing at $53,600 for the Core, $55,400 for the Plus, and $58,800 for the Ultimate. The Twin Motor AWD versions start at $55,350 for the Core, $57,150 for the Plus, and $60,550 for the Ultimate.

The pricing and specifications mentioned above offer a diverse array of options for customers, enabling them to pick the trim level that best suits their preferences and requirements.
