2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV not available to order in U.S.

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The all-electric 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV is no longer available to order in the United States for retail customers in any trim level, the manufacturer’s customer website shows. After the closure of the Premium and California Route 1 trim levels in early March 2022, the Select and GT trims have now also met the same fate.

The product page for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E SUV on the company’s official consumer website shows all the trim levels, viz. the Select, GT, Premium, and California Route 1, featuring the "not available to order" note in brackets.

The news about unavailability of the Select and GT trim levels comes not long after reports surfaced in March that Ford had stopped accepting orders for the other two trims.

It means that the all-electric SUV with the current model year is no longer available for retail order in the United States, thanks to high demand for the vehicle. However, limited inventory may be available at select dealers. What this means for potential buyers is that they either have to wait for the 2023 model year or will have to vie for the few units that are still available at some dealers across the nation.

While the American manufacturer quotes high demand as the reason for the unavailability of the SUV, the reality seems to be much more complicated. The persistent worldwide shortage of semiconductors might have also played a big role in unavailability of the vehicle. It is worth-mentioning here that Ford had temporarily halted Mustang Mach-E production in February at the Cuautitlan manufacturing facility in Mexico because of supply chain issues.

Now, Ford has set an aim to triple Mustang Mach-E production at its Mexican plant by year 2023. More capacity will be released by stopping the production of the fully-electric Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs at the plant.

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV boasts a perfect blend of popular elements of the past and present, and it bodes very well for the future of EVs. On the exterior, it features iconic nameplate with a smart body style; while handsomely appointed interior brims with the stat-of-the-art technology. Get behind the steering wheel, and you will get quick and agile driving experience. The sportiest version sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, while its powerful battery promises more than 300 miles per single charge.
