20 Hoteliers Pull-out from Commonwealth Games Project
Government’s initiatives to provide easy accommodation to the guests during forthcoming Commonwealth Games suffered a major setback as around 20 hoteliers pulled their hands from the games hotel project.
The Delhi Development Authority had earlier allotted 33 hotel plots to different hoteliers in a bid to provide 40,000 rooms in the upcoming sports mega event. However, some hoteliers failed to complete even 30 per cent of ground work and decided to opt out, as per a senior official of tourism ministry.
It has been observed that parties who got plots are moving ahead at very slow pace that can create accommodation problem in the capital which is going to host Commonwealth Games in June 210.
A status report prepared by tourism ministry informed, “Amar Hospitality, which was to construct a 512-room hotel in Shahadara, is moving at a snail's pace and there is not much activity on the ground.”
The hoteliers who decided to pull out of the project include Amar Hospitality, Asrani Inns, Breaze Constructions and Anush and IFCI Ltd.
