14-year-old Dakota Fanning defends rape scene in new film

Dakota-FanningMelbourne, Nov 25 : Hollywood actress Dakota Fanning, 14, has defended her rape scene in forthcoming flick ‘Hounddog’, insisting its just acting.

The ‘I am Sam’ actress became defensive after there were many calls for her mother to be jailed on child pornography charges for letting Dakota depict the scene.

"It''s a movie and it''s called acting. What drew me to the film was that my character shows people that you can overcome adversity in life and it doesn''t define you,” the Herald Sun quoted Fanning, as saying.

"My character has so many other interests and talents that just because something terrible happened to her doesn''t mean she can''t have a great life,” Dakota added.

Dakota revealed that the flick enlightens the fact that a human can overcome difficulties in life, without being traumatized by it and she also stated is a fan of Sue Monk Kidd''s book, on which the flick is based.

"I wanted to do the film because I thought it might help one person that has happened to and help them overcome adversity in their lives,” Dakota said. (ANI)
