According to reports, Patrick Carolan, of Stratford, Conn. has been recognized as a "Champion of Change" by the White House for his work towards protection of environment and communities from the harmful effects of climate change.

The Champion of Change event was discussed by Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy and Senior Advisor to the President Brian Deese. Mr. Carolan in addition to 11 other Americans was honored by them. All these people have showed clear leadership in the United States and throughout the world by making efforts to make their communities aware and tell people about the social and moral justice implications of the global problem.

The Champions of Change program was brought so that the White House could feature persons who do extraordinary things in order to motivate members of their communities.

According to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, "We are excited to recognize extraordinary people of faith, from across the country, who are acting on climate to protect our planet from harmful climate change impacts".

McCarthy added that a number of faith leaders know that it is necessary to make efforts in preserving a healthy planet for coming generations. McCarthy said that they are paying attention to President Obama's call for climate efforts by communities.

For five years, Patrick Carolan has served as the Executive Director of the Franciscan Action Network (FAN). As per reports, climate change has been highlighted as a main issue at FAN and he has also made connections with other faith and secular organizations in that direction.
